Looking for some fun family things to do in Panama City Beach? The Science and Discovery Center of Northwest Florida is loaded with cool exhibits for visitors of all ages! Although the museum is closed until late 2020 to redo the reptile exhibit, your family will get to see all sorts of cool things here!
A short trip from your Panama City Beach condo, the science center provides an enthralling learning adventure where your kids can dig for dinosaur bones or become a pirate.
Why not consider an off-the-beach adventure at the Science and Discovery Center of Northwest Florida during your Panama City Beach visit?
Current Exhibits
At the Discovery Center of Northwest Florida, you will find all sorts of cool exhibits that allow your child’s mind to freely wander.
Once the remodel of the reptile exhibit completes in late 2020, you will be able to get up close and personal with a wide array of different reptiles in their new abode.

If your kid is a fan of the Jurassic Park movies, they will love getting their paleontology on in the Dino Dig area! Grab some tools and learn how to dig up dinosaur bones just like a real-life paleontologist. Or, if pirates are more their thing, head on over to the pirate ship and set sail. Your child can learn all about how pirates sailed their ships in search of land and treasure.
There is also a digital wall that functions as a live video funhouse. This will bring you back to when you were a kid and went to the old carnival funhouses with their crazy mirrors! It is a fun way for kids to discover how optical illusions work.
Camps
Every summer, the Science and Discovery Center offers a summer camp for children between the ages of 4 and 12, and it is a great way to spend time outside of the condos in Panama Beach. It starts on June 1 and ends on July 31. Every week, there is a different topic that kids will learn about, ranging from dinosaurs to insects. Your children can even let their Harry Potter fandom reign supreme during the Wizards, Witches, & Spells week!
A full day (8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.) is $175/week for non-members and $160/week for members. Wrap-around care is $10/day. You can register by filling out a form at the outside drop box or by going online.
Annual Events
Once you’ve run through your list of things to do in Panama City, check out one of the Center’s annual events. They offer kids a chance to experience Panama City Beach wildlife attractions beyond what they would typically see in the Center’s exhibits.
